Stratford received welcome news from Hartford as the state budget delivered more than $1.6 million in additional funding for our schools and town services.
Members of Stratford’s legislative delegation announced that the state budget includes $1,212,175 in additional education funding and $406,351 in additional municipal aid for Stratford — a combined increase of $1,618,526.
The additional support comes at an important time for our community.
Strong public schools require sustained investment, while municipalities across Connecticut continue to face the challenge of providing the services residents depend on without placing an unsustainable burden on local property taxpayers.
State Representative Joe Gresko, State Representative Kaitlyn Shake, and State Senator Herron Gaston joined other members of Stratford’s legislative delegation in welcoming the additional funding.
The new funding is part of a larger state commitment to Stratford. Overall, Stratford’s portion of the state budget totals approximately $44.8 million across numerous programs and funding sources, including Education Cost Sharing, PILOT funding, municipal grants, transportation-related funding, adult and special education support, and other forms of state assistance.
For Stratford residents, the additional $1.6 million represents something very tangible: more state resources available to support our schools and municipal needs rather than asking local taxpayers to shoulder those costs alone.
It also demonstrates why strong representation in Hartford matters.
Representatives Gresko and Shake and Senator Gaston continue to advocate for Stratford and work to ensure our community receives its fair share of state resources.
The Stratford Democratic Town Committee thanks our Democratic legislators for their work on behalf of Stratford and recognizes the bipartisan members of the Stratford delegation who supported this funding.
Investing in our schools, supporting our town, and working to ease pressure on local taxpayers are priorities that benefit every Stratford resident.
