Who runs Stratford’s elections?

Several local offices and trained workers have different responsibilities in an election. Knowing those responsibilities makes it easier to get help.

Registrars of Voters

Stratford’s Registrars administer elections, primaries, and referendums and register eligible voters. Contact their office about your registration, district assignment, polling location, or accessibility arrangements. Stratford Registrars of Voters

Town Clerk

Absentee applications and ballots go through the Town Clerk’s office. The Clerk is the right contact for a ballot that has not arrived, a receipt question, or a missing return-envelope signature. See the absentee FAQs and Town Clerk’s office information.

Moderators and poll workers

Poll workers prepare the voting location, help voters understand the process, and protect ballots and equipment. Their assignments require training. A moderator is an election official you can ask for when you need assistance at the voting location, including an accommodation if standing in line is difficult. Learning about election work

The state’s poll-worker information and interest form explains eligibility and training. Eligible adults and some 16- and 17-year-olds can serve, subject to the state’s requirements. Pay and assignments vary by town. Completing the interest form allows a registrar to contact you; it does not commit you to an assignment.
