Stratford Public Schools will receive $350,000 in new state funding to help strengthen special education services for students within our community.
State Representative Joe Gresko announced in August that Stratford was selected to receive funding through Connecticut’s new High-Quality Special Education Incentive Grant Program.
The program is designed to help school districts expand high-quality special education programming within their own schools, giving districts additional resources to serve students closer to home when appropriate.
For students and families, strong in-district programming can offer important benefits.
Students may have greater opportunities to remain connected to their neighborhood schools, classmates, and community while receiving the specialized services and support they need.
Expanding effective in-district services can also help school districts address the significant costs associated with some out-of-district special education placements.
The $350,000 award represents an investment in both Stratford students and the educators and professionals who support them.
Representative Gresko welcomed the funding and emphasized the importance of providing students with the resources necessary to succeed. Representative Kaitlyn Shake also highlighted the grant in an update to Stratford residents.
