Stratford Ethics Commission Seeking Members

The Ethics Commission for the Town of Stratford has been reactivated after a dormancy of over two years. The newly appointed members met on June 7 to elect officers. Susan Birge will serve as chairman, Thomas Kulhawik as vice chairman and Robert Chimini as recording secretary. Bruce Hawley also serves as a regular member of the commission. The commission identified ethics training for employees, elected and appointed officials as their priority.

The Town and the commission are seeking an additional regular member and three alternate members to complete the commission. Stratford residents interested in serving on this commission are encouraged to submit the application form on the town’s website under “Boards and Commissions”. Prior to an official appointment, interested citizens will meet with the Ethics Commission to gain a thorough understanding of the Town Ethics Code and the responsibilities of the commission.

The Ethics Commission’s primary responsibility is to investigate complaints, conduct investigations and hearings involving potential violations of the Town’s ethics code. The Town of Stratford Ethics Code and the Complaint Form can be found on the Ethics Commission in the Town of Stratford website
