Born and raised in Stratford, I attended Holy Name Elementary, Wooster Middle and Stratford High School. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science from Central Connecticut State University, I worked as a weather forecaster with Dr. Mel Goldstein at Western Connecticut State University before catching the news bug and beginning a career in radio news. I had a successful career as a radio news reporter/anchor at WICC-AM (Bridgeport), winning multiple Associated Press awards and twice the Ellen Abrams award for best radio reporter in the state. After working in the Mayor's office in the City of Bridgeport managing all media relations and public affairs functions including the police and fire departments, I served as the deputy chief of staff for the State of Connecticut House Speaker in Hartford managing a diverse staff.Following a brief re-location to California, I returned to Connecticut and worked as a policy and communications aide for the late Rep. Terry Backer. Over the years, Terry and I worked on legislation such as banning microbeads and protecting Long Island Sound. We secured funding for the South End Community Center and the Little League Field House at Short Beach. I am honored to represent the district held by my good friend and mentor.I continue fighting for Stratford at the State Capitol by building relationships and working to find common ground and consensus to solve problems. Recent successes include assisting in the securing of funding for the renovation of Stratford High School, funding for the Sterling House upgrades, saving the Sikorsky Aviation School at Sikorsky Airport and fully supporting the agreement to keep Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford.I annually volunteer at the Housatonic River clean-up and participated in the sea grass replanting at Stratford Point. I am a member of Protect Your Environment (PYE) and the Stratford Rotary and am also an auxiliary member of the local VFW Post 9460.
