Second District Candidates to Participate in Forum

The three candidates running for the Second District Town Council seat on Oct. 13 will participate in a community forum next Wednesday.

The Old Stratford Neighborhood Association will conduct its Meet the Candidates Night at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 5 at St. Joseph’s Church of Stratford, 1300 Stratford Road.

The forum will be moderated by John Kovach, editorial director for HAN Network and a former editor of the Stratford Star.

Participants will include Democratic candidate Scott Farrington-Posner, Republican candidate Ron Tichy and petitioning candidate George E. Mulligan.

The forum will allow each candidate the opportunity to speak equally on the most pressing issues in Stratford that are of most concern to the Second District voters and residents.

“For over 37 years, the Old Stratford Neighborhood Association has represented many hundreds of homes in the district and has taken the lead in providing open forums for our elected officials to address many important issues affecting our neighbors and the surrounding area, “ said Ann Lindsay, president of the Old Stratford Neighborhood Association. “OSNA has a rich history over the decades of conducting candidates’ forums with an open discussion of the issues. This process allows our membership and the people of Stratford to make an informed decision on who will best represent their interests for Town Council.”

The three candidates will run in a special election being held on Oct. 13. The men running are hoping to succeed Mark Dumas, who resigned his seat in June due to family and work issues.
